Loving You by The Nelons: Debuts at No. 9 Christian Albums
The Nelons’ album “Loving You” debuts at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart following a tragic plane crash involving three band members.
The Nelons, a renowned American Southern Gospel group, made a significant return to the music scene after several years with their latest album “Loving You,” which released on August 30. This 11-song collection marks their first chart appearance, debuting at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart dated September 14. With an impressive total of 3,000 equivalent album units sold predominantly through album sales, the group is gaining traction in a competitive genre where emotional connection with the audience is paramount.
However, this achievement is shadowed by tragedy, as three members of the Nelons—Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, and Amber Nelon Kistler—lost their lives in a plane crash in northeast Wyoming on July 26. They were en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the unfortunate accident occurred. The surviving member, Autumn Nelon Streetman, expressed gratitude for the prayers and support during these challenging times.
The Nelons have a rich history since their inception in 1977, earning accolades such as their induction into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016 and winning 10 GMA Dove Awards. Their unwavering spirit was on display at a memorial service in Georgia, where Streetman performed despite the heavy loss.
