Jesus of Sherbrooke: urban evangelical advertising display in 2025
An advertising panel with the message “forgive my sins, Jesus, saved my soul” appeared in downtown Sherbrooke on August 21, 2025, at the corner of the King East streets and Saint-François. This type of display is rare in Quebec but running in the United States, where it is regularly found on highways in certain regions.
The initiative returns to Nathanaël Séneron, resident of Estrie since 2019, who financed the project on a personal basis with the help of two friends. Nathanaël Séneron claims that his intention is to promote Jesus only, considering that faith helped him during a difficult period of his life in 2008. He thus wishes to transmit this message to those who are going through moments of distress or uncertainty.
The campaign attracts attention because it directly targets people who suffer, in a district recognized for its social diversity. The panel also includes an address to the “The Last Reformation” site, an international evangelical group whose founder, Torben Søndergaard, was involved in several controversies and expelled from the United States after a period of incarceration. According to Nathanaël Séneron, the website was added only because the advertising sign manager Bell Média required the presence of an internet address on the poster.
This choice, as well as the visibility of the message, arouse reactions and curiosity on the part of passers -by and the community. The poster challenges as much by its religious content displayed in large format as by the reference to a foreign evangelical group, which makes it an object of unusual discussion in the Sherbrookois public space.
