Myrdith C. Melus, Interview

Who is Myrdith C. Mélus?

A lot of people call me Sr. MiMi. My husband’s name is Depudy Rithou Mélus. Thank God, we have just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, a marriage filled with love. We have a daughter named Ri’Anne. I am an American citizen but was born and raised in Haiti.

Music has always been a passion of mine, but I am not able to read musical notes or play any instrument other than my voice. Luckily, I have access to a great coach who helps me develop my musicianship and that has proven to be an invaluable gift.

I exercise my ministry part-time. I am an independent life and health insurance agent. I am studying at Rasmussen University to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in human resources. I also give training on worship.

My husband and I are members of the church “King Jesus Haitian ministry» under the direction of Pastor Elou Fleurine in Homestead, Florida.

I don’t see myself as an artist, but rather as a worshiper. I don’t consider those who support me as fans, I consider them as my family because we are one body in Jesus Christ.

I love listening to other worshipers like: RosenaSalil, Frè Gabe, Walby P, Alabanza, Valérie Dantus and also Spenser Brutus.

7 things that characterize me:

  • I like to joke a lot.
  • I cry easily, especially when I’m happy.
  • When I was little, I was more turbulent than the others.
  • I love cooking and seeing how people enjoy the food I prepare.
  • I don’t like to rush when I’m getting ready to go out.
  • I’m direct, I’m honest with the people I love.
  • I do not have many friends.

My fondest memories…

I didn’t choose music. I chose God instead, and God himself showed me that he gives me special grace when I sing. God loves when I sing, and many people are blessed through my songs too. This is the reason why I sing Gospel.

My best musical experience It’s an English song called “I’m alive” of Rich Tolbert Jr.. Who is one of the most influential in the American sector. I translated the song into Creole. A person who knew him sent him my translation. He wanted to meet me, and as a result, we were able to sing together once. It was one of my happiest moments in music.

My Discography:

I have 3 singles, two of which were written by myself. The first titled “Gade jan’w gran» and the second “Mwen salt in Jezu“.
The third is a Creole translation of the Excess Love remix, for this cover, I sang with the beautiful and talented . The singles are available on all platforms.

I also have LIVE worship music “Where is BONDYE“. My team and I are working on another LIVE which is due out soon. All I can say, it will be something extraordinary.

My Dream for the evangelical sector…

I dream of bringing even more to the sector . I dream of mentoring, supporting and teaching the next generation of worshipers. I dream of encouraging them and helping them release their single, helping them understand God’s call which is not just to sing.

What is being prepared for 2023

Currently we are preparing the 2nd annual edition of “ WEtreat 2023 »

It is a multi-day retreat in which we reserve 3 days of training for worshipers, a source of, motivation, exchange of experience especially with elders, with the sole aim of improving and doing better for God. This year’s meeting is at Fort Myers.

We are working on English music translations which will be available soon. There is definitely the LIVE recording that will be released this year, I don’t have a specific date yet.

I am working on several things but I prefer to keep the surprise for God’s people.

I want to thank…

God for his Grace towards me. Many thanks to Jubau for giving me this opportunity. I say thank you to my husband who is an exceptional support for me in everything I do. Thank you to my staff, to all my family, my friends in the body of Christ who always share and buy every time I organize an event.

Thank you so much. Let us stay united because we form one body in Jesus Christ
