Marc G. Menard, Biography

Published on

Real name Marc Gérald Ménard, originally from Haiti, it was in 2009 that the general public discovered the artist on stage. With his guitar that he has been strumming since a very young age, he decided to release in 2009 to the surprise of everyone who knew him in the Gospel world, a rather Jazzy acoustic album. The result proved fascinating, a more than warm welcome from the general public forcing it to take itself seriously. He then set up his group with former students whom he had trained on different instruments.

There again, he won over the public and this is how we will find him almost everywhere in Saint Martin where he lives, in Paris and in Guadeloupe. But Marc G wants more so he takes advantage of his momentum to venture into a more soulful RND style and of course Gospel which will contribute to an expansion of his audience, thus, he releases his first single in English “I don’ t wanna give up » with Dizell from the group REC, taking advantage of his polyglotism to sing this time in English. Above all, don’t talk about musical style to Marc G who can’t define : “I love what I do, and I try to please everyone from time to time.”

His second album released in 2012 is titled “Half Way” under the same label as the first. Available on the internet and distributed almost everywhere in the Greater and Lesser Antilles, this album is making headway and in the meantime Marc G is working on new pieces. “I can’t understand people who stop music, it’s so exciting and eternal”, we understand that with Marc G, we don’t have it for long and that’s good, you might say. “My first album was certainly more Jazzy but the guitar still remains the basis of my music”.
On stage Marc G is made to think with his committed lyrics, makes people dance to his Caribbean rhythm and makes him laugh, he who has always kept his sense of humor in everything he does, so we don’t come out of a Marc concert G without having experienced all the sensations that a spectator expects from the complete artist that he is. In 2013 Haiti will discover Marc G thanks to the song “Poum Spoken” nominated among the best gospel songs of the year 2013. Everything will then accelerate his journey on his native land, he performs there from time to time. “I didn’t expect it, Haiti is so full of artists that talent is not enough to integrate there.” Faced with the enthusiasm, he released the title “encore” at the end of 2013, which was also popular but received less attention than “poum parole”.

At the beginning of 2014 Marc G released his live album: Live et unpublished, the song “you jou / Temwanyé” appeared on it and it was immediately successful. Very horse on the his manager Fabre Johnson promises us big things for 2014. Hopefully it lasts!
