Jerusalem – Christafari (Official Music Video) [Walking on the Ramparts] Feat. Avion Blackman

When Christafari visited Jerusalem, I took a walk on the ramparts—the ancient walls surrounding the Old City. That 30-foot view changed everything for me. As I pointed out where Jesus was judged, flogged, crucified, and where He will return, the city came alive in my heart.

That same day, our guitarist Renato Taimes shared an instrumental track he wrote at the hotel. I had just finished a poem—something I hadn’t written in years. When I heard his music, the words “Jerusalem, Jerusalem…” came instantly to mind. It was a divine fit.

I had planned for my wife Avion to sing lead, but when she heard me sing it, she said, “Let’s sing it together.” For the first time in our 35-year history, all the singing vocals on this track are a duet between us.

This song is one part biblical geography, one part history and prophecy, and one part heartfelt worship. We pray it moves you

====SONG LYRICS====

Jerusalem
Lyrics by Mark Mohr
Additional assistance from Jah Pickney

Walking on the ramparts of Jerusalem
Depon di city walls
Walking on the ramparts of Jerusalem
Kingdoms rise and them fall

I see giant an olive mount
Where He left and will come again
Below lies a grove from where He wept
Betrayed by His close friend

Outside these textured city walls
Displayed for all to see
Was a gruesome hill that’s like a skull
They call it Calvary

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
Your lamp will always burn
Good news for them Jerusalem
Prepare for His return

Nearby there is a rich man’s grave
No longer sealed nor closed
Yeshua died and there He laid
But on the third day rose

Below an arch the golden gate
Where scapegoats fled with sin
The very gate on the eastern side Through which He’ll enter in

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
Your lamp will always burn
Good news for them Jerusalem
Prepare for His return

Walking on the ramparts of Jerusalem
Depon di city walls
Walking on the ramparts of Jerusalem
Kingdoms rise and them fall

Dimple marks from where bullets them struck
Inna the latest siege
Armed soldiers separating the flocks
Trying to keep the peace

Divided by opposing faiths
Who fail to once agree
Sectioned in these walls remains
Synchronized disunity

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
Your lamp will always burn
Good news for them Jerusalem
Prepare for His return

Walking on the ramparts of the city
Depon the city walls
Walking on the ramparts of the city
Kingdoms rise and them fall

No tombs afoot or bricks so deep
Could ever keep
The Son of Man from passing through Can’t keep Him out

For walls so thick and bricks so big ramparts steep
Shall fall with a mighty shout

Near the palace on the other side of the wall
That is where the city of King David stands
There is a gate that’s now inviting all
Come into the promised land

Zion is it’s righteous and it’s holy name
It is a refuge and a bastion for our faith
For one day soon all those who have been cleansed from sin
Shall enter through this gate

And at that time this beautiful city of yore
Will forever change
It’ll have a new face
No death, no pain, no suffering forever more
Forever United in faith

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
City of the Promised Land
Oh, daughters of Jerusalem
Zion stretches forth her hands

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
Your lamp will always burn
Oh, ramparts of Jerusalem
Prepare for His return

Jerusalem, Jerusalem
Jerusalem, Jerusalem
