James Smith Alcindor: A Journey of Faith and Music
James Smith Alcindor was born in 1983, far from his tender mother, Claudette Alexandre Alcindor. He grew up with his father, Jean Alcindor, and his two brothers, Jimmy and Love-Maël. James has always had a passion for music; from an early age, he began singing with his brothers who encouraged him to strive for excellence. This love for music prevented him from keeping his talent hidden.
In 1997, at the age of 14, he dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, marking the beginning of his journey as a songwriter and singer, a talent bestowed upon him by God. James was responsible for composing songs for children’s groups under the guidance of Brother Luc Saurel, his mentor at the time.
In 1998, James joined a teenage band where he glorified God through song under the guidance of maestro Tharly Pierre, leaving a lasting impression with his music. By 1999, he became a member of the Habazinia Choir, performing as a soloist and composer. In 2000, James led the ECC (Community Church of Christ) Teenagers group as maestro.
In 2004, following a profound experience with God, his life took a transformative turn. God called him to sit in His presence, sharing words and melodies aimed at guiding His people into a deep and sincere relationship with Him. “I realized that God’s presence is my true place in this world, and that nothing is more important than developing a one-on-one relationship with Him.” His obedience to this divine call enriched him as a composer, both lyrically and melodically.
From 2004 to 2006, James led a League of Worshipers (LIDA), many of whose compositions transformed lives. In 2006, he joined the worship ministry at the Church on the Rock, led by Pastor Garry St-Hubert. Three years later, in 2009, he miraculously recorded his first album, “Fasone m’ Jan w’ vle,” released in September 2010; it became a true blessing for God’s people. Two years later, in 2012, his second album, “Prezans ou gate m’,” was the cherry on the cake, solidifying his reputation.
Today, James is recognized worldwide as a composer and leader of worship and praise through music. He also teaches the word of God at the Bible school of the International Fishermen of Men Ministry. In addition to being a writer, speaker, pastor, and entrepreneur, he is the founder of Saj-Productions, which serves the evangelical community by providing services such as a recording studio. James is happily married to Michaëlle C. Alcindor, an administrator and founder of Chaëlle Management, an entity within Saj-Productions. His greatest dream is to see humanity enter into the glory of God and reflect that glory in every facet of their lives.
