“Ephphatha,” a new single from recording artist GLO, which stands for God’s Love Only, will be added to Hot AC/CHR and Gospel radio today. GLO wrote the song with Alex “Ace 1” Espinoza at the helm as the single’s producer.
“Ephphatha” is Aramaic for “be opened,” GLO says. “The song and its title are based on what Jesus said to the deaf and mute man in Mark 7:34.” The verse reads: “Then looking up to heaven, He sighed and said to him, ‘Ephphatha,’ which means, ‘Be opened.’”
“What the world experienced with the pandemic in 2020 went beyond race, politics, age, gender and financial status,” GLO says. “While not everyone was infected with Covid-19, many were impacted by a financial crisis that shuttered businesses, schools and churches, which created a world with mask mandates, 6-foot social distancing and the search for a vaccine.
“Ephphatha” is a song to remind us that this temporary world is just that, temporary,” she says. “Nothing this side of Heaven is forever. We cry out and raise our voices for the world to open but we have closed our hearts to God. I pray that the hearts of men will receive Jesus Christ.
“Ephphatha! Be open!
The new single follows a trio of other GLO singles that have performed well on the CRC charts. “Closer” was a No. 1 single at CRC Weekly And Monthly CRCas well as second place at Quarterly CRC. The single ranked #10 on the CRC Annual Chart.
“No Weapon Formed” also topped the charts, hitting No. 1 at CRC WeeklyNo. 2 to Monthly CRC and No. 6 to Quarterly CRC.
“Reborn,” released in 2019 as the lead single from GLO’s album of the same name, reached No. 1 at CRC WeeklyNo. 2 to Monthly CRC and No. 7 to Quarterly CRC.
Music has been important to GLO since she was young. When she received Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1998, she asked God to reveal His purpose. As she began writing songs, the songwriter noticed that none of her songs glorified God.
“That all changed one fateful day,” GLO says, “when God had a Word for me in Bible study: ‘You can’t have one foot in the world and one foot out.’ After receiving that message, it was the breakthrough I needed. I haven’t looked back.”
With a ministry that knows no boundaries and reaches young and old alike, GLO’s prayer is that his music can shatter the misconception that rap is only worldly.
GLO has appeared on local TBN networks as well as UK London International TBN. She has performed on stage at Gospel Superfest where she shared the platform with artists such as Deitrick Haddon, Lecrae, Dorinda Clark-Cole and others. She has enjoyed radio airplay on US and international radio stations.
In June 2019, GLO signed with McLaughlin Music Group for management.
