Brandon Heath publishes videos in American sign language for his album “The Ache”
The singer and evangelical Christian composer, Brandon Heath recently published videos in American sign language (ASL) For each song of his ninth studio album, “The complement”. This initiative makes him one of the first artists to offer ASL videos for an entire album. The videos are available on YouTube and were created in collaboration with SONSHINE PERPRETING.
Heath was inspired by a deaf fan, Ian Myers which had sent him interpretations in signs of his songs. Araya Williamslongtime interpreter and friend, helped coordinate ASL talents for this project, involving deaf artists like Renca Dunn, Colin Analco And Brandon Gaskin.
“The complement” tackles themes of loss and length, with songs like “Gospel Truth” And “He does (oh by the way)”who highlight faith and confidence in God. Another song, “Scars”was written after the shooting at the Covenant school to honor his friend, the chaplain Matthew Sullivan.
This initiative underlines the importance of making music accessible to all, including the deaf community, and values ​​deaf culture using deaf artists for interpretations.
