Artist, producer and pastor Austin Ludwig releases his debut single, “New Creation,” available on all digital platforms August 13.
Written by Austin Ludwig and produced alongside Spenser Boice, “New Creation” is based on 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV), which says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!”
Throughout this inspiring song, Ludwig shares the hope and joy of becoming a new creation, which he experienced as a young adult. “In my early twenties, I was a very broken young man,” he shares. “I got caught up in the wrong crowd in college and was looking for fulfillment. After a season of struggling with partying and drug addiction, I hated the person I had become. I was in pain and overwhelmed with shame, feeling unworthy of love.”
From this lowly place, the “New Creation” was born. “After an encounter with God’s love, I discovered the truth: that who I was could be crucified with Christ and that every death gave way to resurrection in the Kingdom,” Ludwig shares.
The lyrics of “New Creation” speak of Ludwig’s experience and hope of rebirth through Christ, and the song’s musical elements consistently convey the message. Beginning with a combination of synthesizers and slide guitars and building throughout the song with the use of drums, electric guitars, and pads, “New Creation” ends with a crescendo of good news: “I am a new creation.”
Growing up with a passion for music and experience playing in various churches, Ludwig credits much of his healing from an abusive childhood to Riverstone Church, where he is now a worship pastor. “After a difficult childhood with years of abuse, I became a foster child,” Ludwig shares. “As an adult, I struggled with the broken pieces of my past, but I completely surrendered my life to Jesus when I realized it was the only path to wholeness.”
Today, Austin Ludwig uses his music and influence to share his testimony and the message of hope that only Jesus offers, which is clearly represented through his debut single, “New Creation.”
