Forrest Neil Frank (born April 8, 1995) is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer from Fulshear, Texas. He first rose to international prominence as one half of the indie-pop music duo Surfaces before achieving massive commercial and critical success as a solo contemporary Christian music artist. Known for his genre-bending style that blends pop, hip-hop, lo-fi, and rock, Frank has become one of the most prominent faith-driven artists of his generation. He is signed to River House Records, 10K Projects, and Warner Music Group.
Early life and education
Forrest Neil Frank was born on April 8, 1995, to Ronald and Kerryl Ann Frank (née Grantham). He grew up in Fulshear, Texas, within a deeply musical and faith-oriented household; his mother served as a worship leader, and his grandmother wrote children's music. He is also the grandson of the prominent American meteorologist Neil Frank.
Frank attended Houston Christian High School before enrolling at Baylor University. Although raised in a Christian home, Frank has stated that he did not develop a deep personal relationship with his faith until his sophomore year at Baylor, when he felt compelled to attend a local church service. He graduated from Baylor University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Career
Early career and Surfaces (2017–2022)
Frank began his music career in 2017. Under the mononymous stage name Forrest, he released his debut independent studio album, Warm, on July 1, 2018, followed by Effortless on July 24, 2020.
In 2017, Frank formed the indie-pop duo Surfaces alongside Colin Padalecki. The duo found mainstream global success with their multi-platinum 2019 single "Sunday Best," which peaked in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and became a viral sensation. While with Surfaces, Frank honed his skills in production, utilizing Logic Pro on his MacBook to create the band's signature breezy, optimistic sound.
Solo Christian music breakthrough and Child of God (2023–2024)
In 2023, Frank transitioned away from secular pop to focus entirely on faith-driven music, adopting his full name, Forrest Frank. He broke into the contemporary Christian music scene with the viral single "No Longer Bound" (featuring Hulvey), which topped Spotify's Viral 50 chart and earned a GMA Dove Award nomination. He followed this with a series of successful independent projects, including Nostalgia Pack and A Merry Lofi Christmas.
On July 26, 2024, Frank released his major-label solo debut album, Child of God. The album was a massive commercial success, selling 22,000 copies in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, where it remained for 35 non-consecutive weeks. The project earned Frank a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. Later that year, Frank won the GMA Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for his hit "Good Day."
Continued success, Child of God II, and Party Wave (2025–present)
Frank's momentum carried into 2025 with the release of the single "Your Way's Better." The track reached No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and crossed over into the mainstream, peaking at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. On May 9, 2025, he released his follow-up studio album, Child of God II. The album debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Christian Albums chart, selling 33,000 units in its opening week. The album also earned Frank his second consecutive Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
In addition to his solo work, Frank formed the Christian music superduo Party Wave, collaborating on the project Dawn Patrol in early 2026. By 2026, Frank launched "The Jesus Generation Tour," which became one of the highest-grossing Christian music tours of the year, selling over 470,000 tickets.
Personal life
Frank married Grace Quinn on March 31, 2020, in an intimate ceremony adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple resides in Texas and has two children.
In July 2025, Frank sustained multiple fractures to his L3 and L4 vertebrae after a skateboarding accident. Two weeks later, he announced that subsequent emergency X-rays showed his spine had completely healed, an event he publicly attributed to a divine miracle.
