Why entrust the Gospel to a non -Christian promoter?

The dangers and risks of entrusting the organization of evangelical activities to a non -Christian promoter

Haiti is going through an unprecedented period of despair, and on the horizon, no exit door is visible for almost anyone. However, knowing that the Almighty God still acts, I will say that only faith will triumph. This alarming situation spares no one: from simple citizen to artists, including traders, everyone knows difficult days. If, for a non-crushing, hope is almost nonexistent, for a believer, hope is certainly on the way. Respect to all those who keep high the torch of the Gospel.

I was asked about a news question in the community, and I told myself that it would be appropriate to take the time to send my point of view in writing.

I used to say that the Haitian evangelical community, despite the zeal of influential pastors such as Bishop Gregory Toussaint, Pasteur Malory Laurent, Pasteur Eden McGuffie, Pasteur Pierre Binse Roche, Pasteur Wilner Cayo, Pastor Caleb Barthelus and several other respectable and respected pastors, suffers from a blatant absence of community leadership.

Despite the power of the Gospel, we have still not been able to demonstrate, in this particular situation, that those who are the disciples of Jesus – those who know the Word or even those who have the fear of God – are able to unite and give the example until demonstrating that the Gospel transforms, unites, changes and can redo the history of our country.

The question asked

Here is the question that was asked to me: what is my position and understanding concerning this concert scheduled for April 5, 2025 under the theme “” amazing Grace“” organized by non -Christian promoters?

What are we talking about?

To put you in context: during a press conference organized last week, the organizing team confirmed that Elmilus Joslord has been the leader of this project since its creation. During his presentation, he openly mentioned that he is not a Christian.

Aside from the financial scandals that splashed his managerial career, he has the expertise and contacts necessary to create and exploit this existing market in our community. We must not minimize the work of other promoters of the sector who continue to organize events. Moreover, in the current context of the capital of Haiti, it would seem that only the evangelical community continues to create activities. Yes, there is a way for artists to make a little more money, even if it is always the same (mostly) who take advantage of it.

But should we, Christians, see this situation with so much simplicity? Personally, I don't believe it.

The question of entrusting the organization of community activities to a non -Christian promoter raises legitimate concerns on the spiritual, doctrinal and ethical levels.

The biblical foundations of separation

In spiritual affairs, writing clearly establishes principles concerning relations between believers and non-believers, particularly in contexts of partnership or close collaboration.

It's not just about gathering to talk about everything and nothing. Here, there is talk of bringing together a whole part of the Christian community in the same place using Christian artists with a non-curious conductor to glorify God. What an irony!

The principle of the disparate team

The fundamental biblical warning comes from 2 Corinthians 6: 14-18: “Do not form a disparate hitch with the unbelievers. Because what association is there between justice and iniquity? Or what communion between light and darkness? »»

This verse uses the metaphor of two incompatible oxen harnessed under the same yoke: instead of shooting together in the same direction, they work against each other.

Some might retort: “My boss at work is not a Christian; The taxi driver either. »» However, it is important to understand that these situations differ fundamentally from the context mentioned here. In these cases:

  • You market your time or use a service.

  • Here we are talking about an evangelical activity therefore spiritual. Any spiritual activity should have as primary objective the glorification of the name of God. For this, it is imperative that the chief is a practicing Christian; Otherwise you are marketing your faith and the Gospel.

As part of an event organized by a non -Christian promoter, it is indeed a direct or indirect marketing of the Gospel for the benefit of a non -believing person.

Other major spiritual risks

Doctrinal compromise and message dilution

A significant danger lies in the temptation to soften or compromise the evangelical message to make it more attractive or acceptable to the world. Are we witnessing a 5.0 version of “the gospel according to monetization”where are all means good to make money?

The Gospel is described as “Scandal for the Jews and madness for the pagans” (1 Corinthians 1:23). If a non -Christian promoter organizes a Christian event without sharing this faith or recognizing its deep spiritual implications, his interest can only be financial.

Ethical and moral risks: divergent values in decision -making

A non-crushing can have fundamentally different perspectives on what constitutes an ethical or moral behavior. These divergences can be manifested in:

  • The choice of speakers or artists,
  • Programs content,
  • Financial management,
  • Promotional methods.

Galatians 1:10 reminds us: “Is it the favor of the men I want or that of God?” If I still enjoyed men, I would not be a servant of Christ. »»

We will soon see secular artists appearing realizing so -called evangelical concerts with those from the Christian community. And we will witness an unprecedented allegiance to these non -believing promoters for lack of biblical knowledge.

Conclusion

The risks linked to collaboration with a non -Christian promoter are substantial: doctrinal compromise, ideological infiltration and ethical drift. These dangers must be seriously considered.

If an evangelical community nevertheless chooses this path, it must act with extreme vigilance and place clear tags under constant spiritual supervision. Like Matthieu 10:16 teaches us: “Be careful like snakes and simple like doves. »»

The question is not only practical but deeply spiritual: in any spiritual affair, the objective of a non-crushing can in no case be aligned with that of a believer. That everything is done to glorify Christ (1 Corinthians 10:31).
