Signs of WHATUPRG’s highly anticipated new album, New Hollywood, are becoming real with the official release of ” TO RENT OUT! » to streaming platforms on September 16. The star-studded track marks his second song released from New Hollywood and features WHATUPRG alongside nine CHH artists: Foggieraw, Ty Brasel, Parris Chariz, NOT KLYDE, 1K Phew, Aha Gazelle, 350, Kaleb Mitchell and a brand new verse from NOBIGDYL. WHATUPRG released the original audio after a stroke of inspiration led him to rally collaborators to record the song. In just 24 hours, the song was recorded, mixed, mastered and released on SoundCloudjust in time for its 25th anniversary celebration earlier this year.

True to his trademark delivery, WHATUPRG shows off his ability to levitate through the wavy production to tell inspiring stories as he raps, “It’s for back in the day, living on minimum wage, I ain’t got no ‘M ‘ in the bank, but I have enough for the day.

Prior to the single’s release, RG announced to New Hollywood that the album would be released on September 30.

Born Raúl García, the Mexican American, Georgia native of Gwinnett County, had his own personal experiences with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) . In his music video, “4 a.m.a long form function with Hiphopdx.com, he shared his emotions. When she was 16, at four in the morning, ICE came knocking on her door looking for her Mexican immigrant father. Terrified, he, along with his mother and younger brother, watched in tears as his father was handcuffed, detained and then deported by ICE for violating U.S. immigration laws.

The video for the first single from New Hollywood, ” Kids, ” uses Mexican imagery (children wearing luchador masks) to give a subtle nod to the experiences of Mexicans in America. Unlike immigration policies that have resulted in children being locked in cages at the southern border, in the video they are seen floating in the air, symbolically freed from bondage.
