A new start for a divine mission: the opening chapel of the 2025 academic session at STEP.
THE Evangelical theology seminar of Port-au-Prince (STEP) Inaugurated the new academic session by a memorable chapel, held on January 20, 2025. This event, imbued with spirituality and vision, gathered students, teachers, members of administrative staff and guests around a moment of worship and reflection ,, placing Christ in the center of aspirations for the coming year.
In his inaugural speech, the dean Wadestrant Jean Baptiste was able to captivate the audience by inspiring words and imprints of hope. Warmly welcoming the new admitted as well as the former members of the community, he recalled the importance of their presence in this institution which he described as “Lighthouse, an oasis of hope” In the difficult context that Haiti crosses.
An appeal to persevere in the divine mission.
In a world marked by uncertainty and growing challenges, the dean stressed that the STEP remains faithful to its mission: “Prepare Haitian leaders to make disciples for Christ for the transformation of their communities to the glory of God.” This message found a particular echo in the hearts of the participants, in particular new students, to whom it sent vibrant exhortation:
“It's not just an academic step, but a divine meeting. You are here to be shaped, to be equipped, in order to become carriers of light in a world that needs so much. ”
To current students, he appealed to persevere despite the moments of doubt and discouragement, reminding them that “Each effort, each reflection in prayer is a stone placed on the eternal building of your call.”
A common vision for the glory of God.
The dean also highlighted the tireless commitment of teachers and administrative staff, qualified as“Silent architects of transformed lives.” By expressing their gratitude to them, he recalled that their contribution goes beyond the walls of the institution, impacting the future of Haiti and serving the glory of God.
In his speech full of hope, he invited all the members of the community to advance together, with faith and determination, by placing Christ at the center of all their activities. “If we are faithful in little things, if we persevere despite the opposite winds, God will open do do doors that we would never have imagined.”
A year of renewal and transformation.
This solemn moment marked not only the beginning of an academic session, but also a collective call to build the future with faith and resilience. In a difficult national context, the STEP remains a place where the gospel light shines, forming leaders ready to transform their communities for the glory of God.
With strong words and a clear vision, the opening chapel laid the basics of an academic year marked by excellence, spiritual communion and a renewed commitment to the divine mission.
