The Protestant Federation of Haiti Urges Political Authorities to Make a “Wisdom Decision”

Published on

Freshly installed, the new executive committee of the Protestant Federation of Haiti is already confronted with the thorny question of the current political situation. In a press note published on Thursday, September 26, 2019, the new board of the FPH spoke out on the current crisis by urging the political authorities, especially the President of the Republic , to make a “wise decision” in order to avoid further suffering for the Haitian people.

For its first official communication, the new FPH team, led by Pastor Calixte Fleuridor, pointed the finger at all the actors in the crisis. From representatives of the three powers unable to meet the demands of their functions to the leaders of the protest movements, including demonstrators at times using unsparing violence against public and private property , everyone was entitled to their little adjustments.

“If you cannot build the country, stop destroying it. Create the conditions so that competent and credible resources can participate in the management of public affairs.” Words that sound like reprimands to the ears of leaders and members of the opposition. The committee also invites the actors to unity and dialogue to offer the country and the Haitian people a new direction, a speech which strangely resembles that of the first citizen of the nation criticized at Also in this same note for his silence and the low impact of his last intervention.

This new administration, having not yet confronted the press head-on and forced to take a position on certain subjects, can afford to moderate its opinions, at least for the moment. It will have to be sharper, however, to better position itself in relation to a crisis which continues to take on worrying proportions.
