Matthew 14:28-32
Jesus immediately said to them: “Don’t worry, it’s me. Do not be afraid!” Peter answered, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said to him: “Come!” Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus, but seeing that the wind was strong, he was afraid and, as he began to sink, he cried out: “Lord, save me! » Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and grabbed him and said to him: “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” They got into the boat, and the wind died down.
There is an important lesson here for you today. It’s not you who decides whether you should walk on water: the decision belongs to Jesus alone! You don’t suddenly have a supernatural power that you can use wherever and whenever you want. Before you jump overboard make sure you have been called to do so and that Jesus is the originator of that calling.
