Born on November 16 in Port au Prince into a family Christian of 3 daughters of whom she is the eldest, Sonèse Charles made her debut in church, like the majority of Christian singers. At the Church of God of Fontamara 37 led at that time by Pastor Jacques Virgelin Shibba, she attended the children’s temple when she was 8 years old.
She remembers it like it was yesterday. Driven early on by a passion for music and blessed with a very muffled and high voice, her favorite moment at church was the musical part, the one where all the children had the opportunity to showcase their talent. Which she did not fail to do at every opportunity.
These combined talents later formed, on the initiative of two elders Patrick Hyppolite and Shadrack Paul, “the children of promise” who today excel in music, radio hosting, etc.
Sonèse has since been part of several groups of young Christians such as Maadai of the Renaissance Church of God, the Holy Gospel choir directed at the time by Caleb François, current keyboardist of the group YES, Alegria Gospel and the CHWAPAM choir led by Saidel Saintil.
For now, Sonèse is a member of the SARIAH group, a young collective of women who sing the glory of God. At the same time, she launched a solo career by submitting her first test-pressing, “M pa gen pou-m pè”, since February 2014 for public appreciation. This song which benefits from the arrangements of Caleb François is the testimony of the artist’s unwavering faith, mixed with his experiences with God in his life.
Sonèse was born to sing. “This is what I know how to do, and this is why I put it in the service of God,” she exults. Releasing a solo album soon? Sonèse is not thinking about it at the moment. The main thing for her is to exalt the name of God through music, whether with SARIAH directed by Charleson DUVERNE, whether solo. However, she has several songs in her drawer that she intends to record and share with the general public at the appropriate time.
