I am Romy Laguerre, I was born into a Christian family and a musical family, I have a very long career in music, it is my passion, my inspiration and my life, so I will explain to you how I started and how I’m moving now.
First, I started singing at the age of 5 in church, for several years I joined several groups and choirs with which I had maturity and many people saw in me a great talent and a great star.
In 2001 I left amateur groups completely to join professional groups, arriving at this level I had to learn voice techniques and the notions of music theory. It was with the Rapha group from the Evangelical Baptist Church of Pétion Ville, Rapha is an a capela group and with this group I had a lot of success through telemax competitions called “ticket max” AND “konkou chante nwel »in 2002 I joined the great Tecknon vox choir of Pétion Ville of which I am still a member and I became a real professional with this choir.
Within the latter, I met singers of caliber like Pierre Stephie and Jean Louis Enock to name but a few. In 2004 I participated in “Konkou chante nwel” with the group Rapha, in 2005, I joined “Ayiti en scène” which presented a great star mania musical comedy which was played around the world and it was a winning bet for me to participate in this musical comedy. With Ayiti on stage I had the opportunity to develop not only my talent as a singer but also that of an actor and dancer. What a challenge!
I played Star Mania in the capital as well as in the provinces, for example in Jacmel in a Jacmel film festival, in the capital we played Star Mania at the Cane A Sucre Historical Park. Furthermore, in 2006 I participated as an artist in Star Max of which I was a finalist and I was in 8th position, a very nice experience and during those years I participated in several albums of other singer friends who invited me.
In 2008 I represented Ayiti in Montreal with Ayiti on stage we presented star mania and I had the chance to meet Luc Plamondon, it was an extraordinary experience and since then I have become a singer international.
In 2009 I was in Dominican Republic with the great Tecknon vox choir, and in 2010 at the beginning of this year the country was hit by a terrible earthquake and I narrowly escaped. That same year I joined a new group under the baton of Martin Luther Jules.
This group had the name “Cad” which means cooperation of artists for development, I participated in a competition organized by the BRH (Bank of the Republic of Haiti) with the Cad group for the reconstruction of the country after the earthquake, we were in second place in this competition.
In 2012, I produced my first Evangelical album titled “Jezi ou se tout”, and a video clip in 2013, I also appeared in other videos with the great Tecknon Vox choir from Pétion-Villethe singer Palmyre Séraphin, the singer and producer Dixon Guillaume, the singer Delly Benson and with other singer friends. I also participated in the production of the second album of the Teknon Vox choir. I participated in many concerts organized both in the capital and in provincial towns with Radio Alleluia FM98.9 and others.
Currently I’m not idle, I’m preparing my second album which should be released soon, and I know that the best is yet to come.
