An evangelical-cultural concert by Éveline Pierre: when Pastor Malory says stop!
Pastor Malory has struck the evangelical artistic community again with a statement related to the concert that artist Éveline Pierre is organizing on August 31, 2024. This concert, which has the theme of “relaxation evening”, is designed as an evangelical-cultural evening with Émeline Michel as a special guest. However, Pastor Malory considers it unacceptable that a secular artist be invited to an evangelical event. He even suggested, sarcastically, that we might as well invite a voodoo priest to talk about culture.
The founder of Salvation Church, one of the few pastors to speak publicly on controversial issues, stressing the importance for Christians to take a stand to avoid future degradation of their faith.
This is not the first time that Pastor Malory has criticized evangelical initiatives that, according to him, betray the fundamental principles of the faith. He reiterated that many artists are not truly born again and recalled the importance of singing for God as a serious ministry, especially in the Haitian community. For him, it is better to learn a trade, work and provide for one’s family rather than rely on Haitian evangelical music to survive.
Pastor Malory clarified that he has no personal problem with Émeline Michel, but that he is asking the organizers to cancel the concert.
Do you know the artist Éveline Pierre? In October 2021, she announced the release of her song MWEN CHANJE which was officially released on January 5, 2023. She also released an album titled ATIS GADE LAJ MWEN, although it is not available on streaming platforms. In a short time, she has built a solid network and a significant presence in various evangelical activities of the Haitian evangelical community in the USA.
Despite Pastor Malory’s strong position, the concert by Éveline Pierre on August 31, 2024 with artists such as Sandra Bonheur, Carline Bartley, Ciné Jonasse, Peterson Jn Jacques, Pastor Samuel Marcelus, Siguel Fenelus, Kendya Adelson, Aviole Joseph and Edith Zephyr remains an event awaited by fans and friends of these artists who are quite well-known in their community.
The invitation of Émeline Michel, a respected figure in the secular sector, raises questions about the boundaries between musical genres and cultural tolerance. Pasteur Malory Laurent has repeatedly clarified that he holds no animosity against the artist herself. However, his call for the cancellation of Eveline Pierre’s concert is urgent.
