Myria Charles,
58 years old, single, 2 children. Myria was born with a big smile on her lips and a microphone in her hand! A musician and manager by training, she leads, in concert with her profession as an insurance representative, a career as a classical singer and musician, actress and writer.
Member of the Holy Trinity Philharmonic Orchestra (double bassist), she taught classical music and singing for a long time. Myria exercised her ministry in the direction of choirs as principal conductor (Small Youth Choir of the First Baptist Church of Port-au-Prince) or assistant maestro (Church of the Community Evangelical of Haiti, Redemption Baptist Church in Florida). She also contributed to the musical training of several young people, some of whom are now composers or choir conductors.
She continues to perform on various stages in Haiti and the USA as a double bassist or contralto. Actress, Myria has performed in advertisements, a soap opera and theatrical performances with Syto Cavé, Haïti en Scène and Théâtre Eclosion.
She was a member of the groups Les Etincelles de l’Evangile, Les Mélophiles, Zetwal; of the Church on the Rock Worship and Praise Choir, and double bassist for the Adventist male group Supreme Stars. She is also the official guest artist of the Voice & Harmony Choir where she is sometimes found as a soloist, sometimes within the tenors, sometimes as a double bassist.
Myria is also known as a jury member for talent discovery competitions such as “Mwen renmen Ayiti” (American Airlines); “Starmax” (5 editions / Telemax); “Podium Ecoliers” (Real Productions) and “Next Beat Haiti” (Ayiti Jazz and Ayiti Mizik Foundation).
Host and MC in her spare time, Myria currently writes a daily column in Le Nouvelliste and Panel Magic (100.9 fm) and published her first essay “De Vous A Moi”, ranked among the best-selling Livres en Folies 2013 books. Endowed with a great sense of repartee, joviality and an unfailing sense of humor, Myria was baptized by the press ‘Madame Bonne Humeur’. She ranked the most publicized person of the year 2013.
