Today (January 13), Mike Donehey released the official lyric video for “Follow You Into The Fire,” which can be viewed below. The track was featured on his recently released solo album, Flourish.
Donehey is a songwriter, performer, author, podcaster, and most importantly, a husband and father, but for him, learning to embrace the unexpected has been the very thing that continually produces uplifting and soul-healing music. When the world was hit by the pandemic, Donehey, like so many others, found himself struggling. Tenth Avenue North, the band he founded and fronted for so many years, was amicably disbanding and planning their farewell tour when everything shut down. As the months went by, he realized he had to grieve these drastic life changes and the unknown. The more he began to open up and let himself feel the sadness and the sting of the pain, “the more joy came out the other side,” he explains. As an album that shares songs full of encouragement, radical vulnerability, grief, honesty, acceptance and gratitude, Donehey addresses it all on his new record, Flourish (Fair Trade Services).
