Metals at the heart of evangelization: Burkina Faso opens the way
THE National summit on the metarers and digital transformation of the Church In Burkina Faso marked a turning point in the history of evangelization in French -speaking Africa. From 25 to 27 February 2025, Ouagadougou became the epicenter of religious innovation, attracting the attention of evangelical communities around the world.
A digital revolution for the Church
The Federation of Evangelical Missions and Churches (FEME) of Burkina Faso orchestrated this innovative event, bringing together more than 300 religious leaders and technology experts. The objective? Exploit the potential of the metarers and digital tools to reach the 4,000 villages without churches of the country.
Dr. Isidore Gnatan Kini, sponsor of the event, underlined the urgency to adopt these technologies: “Today, our evangelization mission must extend to digital areas. This declaration resonates with the Christian digital strategy that develops across Africa.
Concrete innovations
The summit presented several technological advances:
- Virtual cults in the metarers : Demonstrations have illustrated how to create hybrid communities, mixing physical and digital presence.
- Artificial intelligence for preaching : Algorithms now personalize spiritual messages for better connection with the faithful.
- Training of digital Christian influencers : A certified program aims to equip the new generation of digital evangelists.
Challenges and opportunities
Despite the enthusiasm, concerns have emerged, especially in terms of cybersecurity. Recent hacks of local church accounts in 2024 raised questions on the protection of spiritual data.
Pastor Jacques Kaboré summarized the spirit of the summit: “Jesus called us to go to the ends of the earth. Today, these ends also include digital spaces. »»
Impact and perspectives
This summit is part of a broader tendency to adopt technologies by evangelical churches, with an increase of 45% of users of virtual platforms since 2023. The Pact Digital project, estimated at $ 150 million, testifies to the extent of investments in this area.
The Burkinabé initiative could serve as a model for other countries, opening the way to a new era of digital evangelization.
