Marcelle Kpan, You are chosen by God

“Jacob remained in the land of Canaan, where his father had sojourned. This is the seed of Jacob. Joseph, aged seventeen, shepherded the flock with his brothers; this child was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph reported their bad words to their father. Israel loved Joseph more than all his other sons, because he had him in his old age; and he made him a tunic of many colors.” Genesis 37:1-3

Genesis 37:5
5 Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers, who hated him even more.

Genesis 37:9
9 He had yet another dream, and he told it to his brothers. He said: I had another dream! And behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowed down before me.

Certainly, you are also in your family, your city, your village, your country, your church, … to be raised. You are therefore a “Joseph” on whom an exceptional grace rests, the grace of a leader. You are a fountain of blessings waiting to flow.

What happens when we are to be raised?

a / God’s choice attracts jealousy, hatred of others

When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than themselves, they hated him (Genesis 37:4). They decided to put him to death (Genesis 37:18). If God has chosen you to be exalted, know that you will experience the jealousy of others. In fact, they are jealous because they do not have your blessing, they envy you and refuse to see you blessed. It is this jealousy that makes them hate you, loathe you, harm you, attack what you do, and plot against you. They don’t want your star to shine.
So don’t expect everyone to be jumping for joy for you. Do not seek to be accepted by everyone, to be acclaimed by everyone. Nurture your relationships with divine connections to arrive at the place God has prepared for you. Pray to God to connect you to the key people of your blessing (the king’s cupbearer, the pharaoh).

b/ God prepares for elevation

God took Joseph from his father to Potiphar to teach him how to manage a household. At his father’s house, he did nothing. Only his brothers would graze the flock. God does not raise lazy people. They raise workers, hard workers. This is why God takes you away from your usual comfort (your home, your family, your country, your work, etc.) and places you in a new space to train you. GOD needs to prepare you for your future “position”.

c/ During the time of preparation, the enemy comes to seduce

Genesis 39:7-9
7 After these things it came to pass that her master’s wife looked upon Joseph, and said, Lie with me; 8 He refused, and said to his master’s wife, Behold, my master hath not knowledge of anything in the house with me, but hath put into my hand all that is his. Read more

On the path to your destiny, the enemy will come, seduced by sin to take you away from your grace. Many will try to lead you out of God’s plan. So be vigilant. Flee sin. Don’t live in sin. If Joseph had agreed to sleep with Potiphar’s wife, he certainly would not have become prime minister in Egypt.

What to do when you are

Do not explain your dreams, dreams, plans to everyone like Joseph (Genesis 37:5, Genesis 37:9-11)
Flee sin like Joseph (Genesis 39:9)
Work like Joseph (Genesis 39:3)
Be humble like Joseph (Genesis 41:14-16)
Do not take revenge like Joseph (Genesis 45:4-7)
Bless you all and become the person God intended you to be!
