William McDowell’s New Album Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Albums Chart

Published on

Dove Award-winning worship leader, pastor and author William McDowell released his new live album, The Cry (Integrity Music), on September 20. It is McDowell’s fifth No. 1 album in his storied career. The Cry was recorded at Redemption to the Nations Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and features special guest artists Nathaniel Bassey, Travis Greene, Yolanda Adams, David and Nicole Binion, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Trinity Anderson (worship leader of McDowell’s Deeper Fellowship Church). The Cry is available here.

The album is already receiving praise from the media, heralded as one of his best works to date.

This is not a normal album! This is not a cookie cutter “worship” album. So many powerful songs of declaration, adoration, triumph, despair, comfort and more. – New Release Today Review

“Stay,” from its string-laden intro to its conclusion, is a beautiful and distinctive ballad about heavenly healing that encapsulates the album’s theme of the power of prayer. It’s arguably McDowell’s best work to date and among the finest gospel songs of the year – Journal of Review

McDowell has been writing songs that cry out to God for revival for 20 years. However, his latest release is not a collection of songs that cry out to God to come; rather, it is a collection of songs written in response to a God who has already done so. McDowell began praying for revival in his community two decades ago, and on May 22, 2016, God’s presence entered his church at Deeper Fellowship in Orlando and has yet to leave.

The church has recorded over 300 different healings and miracles to date. And the recovery shows no sign of slowing down. The congregation has grown from a group of 15 to over 1,000 in just five years. People line up outside the church to attend Sunday services. The Cry is a powerful collection that highlights what God has done in His church and with these people.
