First Church Worship announces the release of their single, “He Can,” the first new music of 2021, and the first since their 2020 self-titled debut EP.
The worship collective, under the direction of director Johnathan Dean, wrote “He Can” as a faith-filled “roar” in response to a year filled with uncertainty and anxiety.
“We’ve all been facing a lot of challenges lately…who hasn’t?” Dean shares. “But no matter what we’re facing, God’s Word is full of promises and examples of how ‘He can’ handle it. He’s done miracles in times like these before, and He will do it again.”
The lyrics begin with reminders of God’s power throughout the ages, and move into promises of how He will manifest Himself now and in the future—echoing the heart of Ephesians 3:20-21, which says that God “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.”
With triumphant guitars, keyboards and synth sounds, First Church Worship goes on the offensive in the chorus, declaring, “We’re talking about power, about authority, over every enemy.”
“He Can” is written by Dean, Amanda Kinner, Daniel Kinner and Laurel Taylor, and is available on all music streaming platforms. Listen to the new song hereand learn more about the first church service at FirstChurchWorship.net.
