Why are you crying? John 20:15.
He them [les disciples] Often happened to say again: "We hoped that it would be him who would deliver Israel." A feeling of melancholy came over them when they remembered these words: "If we do these things to green wood, what will happen to dry wood? "They gathered in the upper room, closed and locked the doors, sensing for themselves a fate for their master.
And to think that all this time they were able to rejoice in the knowledge of a resurrected Savior! In the garden, Mary cried while Jesus stood close to her. Her eyes, blinded by tears, did not recognize him. The hearts of the disciples were so filled with pain that they did not believe the message of the angels, nor even the words of Christ.
There are many who still act like the disciples. How many echo Mary’s desperate cry: "We have taken away… the lord, and we do not know where on evil." "How much are you crying?" Who are you looking for? "He stands near them both, but their eyes are blinded by tears and do not recognize him. He speaks to them, but they don’t understand.
Oh! if we raise our heads, if our eyes are covered with a gaze to contemplate him, if our ears want to listen to his voice! "Make haste to his disciples that he has risen from the dead." […] Do not cry like those who have no hope or help. Jesus lives, and because he lives, we too will live. May our grateful hearts and our lips purified by burning coals ring out this joyful song: Christ is risen! He is alive, and he intercedes for us. Encourage this hope, and cling to it like a sure and firm anchor. Believe, and you see the glory of God.
