Jonathan Cain Releases New Solo Single “Oh Lord Lead Us”

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductee and Journey member of a group Jonathan Cain globally releases his first solo single of 2021, “Oh Lord, lead us”, today (July 23) from Identity Records with distribution The Fuel Music. The single and companion video that is released today from Ultimate Classic Rock are from Cain’s upcoming, sixth solo album in as many years (release date TBA), and continue the iconic artist’s offerings of new, faith-inspired music.

Produced by Cain, mixed by David Kalmusky (Justin Bieber, The Fray, Keith Urban), mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Carrie Underwood, Foo Fighters) and with Journey’s backing vocalist Jason Derlatka lifting the choir into the stratosphere, “?Oh Lord, lead us” was recorded at Cain’s state of the art Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville with some pieces performed remotely due to the pandemic.

Leads weekly worship at his church, City of Destinywhere his wife, Paula White-Cainis the senior pastor, Cain was looking for a song to lead the congregation into the new year. Taking cues from 1 Chronicles 16:11he began to create the new single praying.

“Coming out of the Covid lockdown, I wanted to make a statement musically,” Cain explains. “Being battered, closed down and with churches closed by quarantine closures, it felt like we needed to renew ourselves. We needed something with a little bit of joy in it… Covid was mentally very tough on a lot of people.”

With more solo music to be announced in the near future, Cain is also ramping up 2021 with new music and a tour with his Journey bandmates, including a slot on Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31. He is also the host of the “Anchor“, sharing his heart on topics of faith, family, marriage, manhood and music, and is featured on his wife’s television shows “Paula Today” and “Faithfully” as seen on the Women’s Life Network and Daystar Television.

In addition to new music, Cain has released five solo albums in recent years, including his 2019, Billboard-Featured More like Jesus This Parade calls it a “triumphant new album.” The solo recordings follow a long line of hits that bear the iconic artist’s signature. As a member of Journey, Cain wrote or co-wrote such massive radio hits as the best-selling catalog rock song in iTunes history, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and “Who’s Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” ​​”Faithfully” and much more.
