A few years ago, I made a Spotify playlist called Peaceful Christmas (go listen if you haven’t already!). At the top of the list was Sufjan’s Joy to the World. It’s a simple and accessible arrangement of a very classic Christmas carol. I love his version so much that I wanted to sing it myself. ️
My version is almost identical except for the addition of a British boys choir (yes, they are legit from England), and of course, my voice instead of Sufjan’s. There’s just something about it that makes me feel like I’m listening to a cozy little Christmas concert at church. I can picture all the kids parading around on stage and doing their best not to move.
Heller began releasing monthly singles in April 2017, which together have racked up over 55 million combined streams to date (as of August 2020). The singer will continue to announce a brand new song on the first Friday of every month.
