As one of the main songwriters of one of America’s most accomplished and best-selling bands, Hootie and the Blowfish, Jim (Soni) Sonefeld (drummer and hit writer) has experienced many ups and downs. lows, struggles and ass highs. . As he traveled the world, falling into drugs, alcohol, sex and more, he hit rock bottom for so many people in this lifestyle. After ego and wild days received shock treatment, he became a man focused on his faith, his family and a message of hope and redemption.

From his early days in the Chicago area as a legendary but troubled football phenom to his days as a University of South Carolina player to an unexpected request to drum for the university “band” – he n never really slowed down and applied his true talents. But once he did, he excelled. In sports and in his music/composer and the rest is history, as they say.

His recovery found him a new man with a new meaning, a change in his writing that led to a catalog of CCM-eques music. As he takes the time to speak to groups on his path to recovery, he sprinkles in music, and it’s a strong and powerful place. Soni will precede the release of the Remember Tomorrow EP with the release of her first book (memoir) ‘Swimming with the Blowfish: Hootie, Healing, and One Hell of a Ride’ on June 28, 2022.
