There was a lesson for Christ’s followers throughout all times; they must not exclude themselves from society, nor renounce social relations, nor voluntarily separate themselves from their peers. To reach all classes, we must meet where they are, as they will rarely seek us out on their own. It is not only from the pulpit that men and women are touched by the truth. Christ aroused the interest of men by going among them to do them good. He sought them out in the midst of their daily activities and showed them a sincere interest in their usual occupations. He took his message to every birthplace and placed under the influence of the divine presence the entire families he taught in their own homes.
Jesus censured intemperance and disorder and yet he was sociable. He agrees to share the meal of the noble and the great as well as that of the poor and the afflicted. […]
He did not tolerate any scene of debauchery or orgy but was content to participate in innocent pleasures. The solemn and striking spectacle of a Jewish marriage, full of charm and joy, did not displease the Son of Man.
