Spain: a national mobilization for transparency and justice in the evangelical churches
September 25, 2025 marked a turning point for Spanish evangelical Protestantism: the main officials of the Federation of evangelical religious entities of Spain (Ferede) andAlianza Evangélica Española officially launched a major campaign entitled “Joint, fair, fair and restorer».
This initiative comes following the revelation of new cases of sexual abuse and abuse of power in several Spanish evangelical communities. It aims to guarantee transparency, strengthen the protection of victims and encourage active cooperation with the authorities.
The national campaign originates from the rise in the number of recent testimonies concerning abuse, revealing the need for coordinated action across the country. Organizations at the initiative of this mobilization, Ferede and the Alianza Evangélica Española, represent the main Spanish evangelical institutions, determined to establish zero tolerance in the face of these drifts.
The disseminated manifesto publishes a strong commitment to institutional transparency and justice for the victims. Managers are committed to setting up listening and reporting systems, strengthening training in the prevention of any form of abuse and guaranteeing the collaboration of churches with all the competent authorities. The central message reaffirms the importance of transforming the internal management of churches to preserve the integrity and ethics of the Spanish evangelical community.
The launch of the manifesto and the campaign is designed as a mobilization of the entire Protestant sphere: it is based on information campaigns, inter-elegal meetings, the publication of practical guides, and the public call for the denunciation of situations of impunity. The watchword is transparency and the construction of a safe space for the faithful.
From the first days, reactions were marked by supporting partner religious institutions, relays in the specialized press and the implementation of working groups for monitoring commitments. This approach aims to restore the confidence of the faithful and to guarantee a respectful environment, while encouraging the victims to express themselves safely.
