Today, singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb drops a new song, “I Don’t Want To Miss It,” from her upcoming album, Canyon, out June 25th. The song will also be the first radio single from the upcoming project. Check out this celebratory song here, co-written by Holcomb, Cason Cooley, and Thad Cockrell. here. “While visiting some of the most painful places in my own history and our country’s history, I have encountered God’s kindness and empathy in a palpable way,” Ellie Holcomb says of the new song. “When you taste something this sweet, the beauty of being broken AND loved, you never want to miss that sweetness again. For me, I hunger for more and more of God’s goodness for myself and the world around me. I hope this song is an invitation to breathe God’s love through every broken crack in your story. This song is a prayer, asking God to help me tune into the melody He sings over me and every image-bearing soul on the face of the earth. I don’t want to miss the beauty of that for myself or anyone else. I guess you could say this song is me asking God to turn up the volume on the song of Love He sings over each of us.”
With his next project, Canyon, Holcomb has teamed up with an incredibly talented team of co-writers including Natalie Hemby, NEEDTOBREATHE’s Bear Rinehart and Thad Cockrell, and the project was produced by Cason Cooley with executive producer and his father, Brown Bannister.
“Canyon is a record about deeper grief and greater hope,” shares Ellie Holcomb. “A tornado tore through our neighborhood, Covid-19 shut down our country and canceled all of our tours, racial tensions were high following the death of George Floyd, Christmas morning started with a bomb going off in downtown Nashville, the capitol was under attack, and we had so many family friends lose people they love to the virus. In many ways, writing and singing these songs felt like I was finding my way through a serious season of hurt and grief.”
Since his solo debut in 2014, Holcomb has won two GMA Dove Awardsincluding New Artist of the Year, became a bestselling children’s author with accompanying EPs, has over 157 million global streams and has recently performed and been interviewed on The show TODAY with Amy Grant for the special project FAITHFUL. She and her husband Drew Holcomb have also teamed up with Tennessee: tourism for a campaign where they also released two songs earlier this year. Last year, the Holcombs invited fans to their homes almost every night for their now-famous Kitchen blankets at the height of the pandemic.
