The singer, songwriter and chart-topping gospel writer, Earnest Pugh, has marked yet another achievement in his illustrious career. His current radio single, “Thank You So Much,” is No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay and Mediabase Gospel Songs chart for the week ending March 5, 2022. For more than two decades, Pugh has been known around the world for his extensive catalog of inspirational songs that have earned him 50 million digital streams and over a dozen hits on the Billboard Gospel Airplay charts, including his three previous number ones. 1 crushes, “I Need Your Glory,” “God Wants to Heal You” and his signature song, “Rain on Us.”
“First of all, it is an honor to serve in this place of honor for the 4th time in my career,” said Pugh. “Secondly, this song was my post-covid anthem after battling Covid for several weeks – literally the feelings of my heart because I know millions of people didn’t make it, but I was one of those who did it. It was the second No. 1 single from “The Outpour Experience” album, which is a miracle because it was released in the middle of a pandemic and neglected by man, but it’s a sign for Kerry and me that the hand of God is on this body of work. »

ABOUT PUGH: The Memphis native has been singing in church his entire life. After a fifteen-year military career, he launched his recording career as a gospel artist in the early 2000s. Over the years, he has become known in particular for his poignant ballads such as “Rain on Us” and his cult anthems such as “The Great I Am”. Along the way, he collaborated with Rance Allen, Beverly Crawford, J Moss, Richard Smallwood, Vanessa Bell Armstrong and Shirley Caesar, among others. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Howard University and will earn a Ph.D. in Theology and Christian Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2023.
