Bishop Gregory Toussaint launches the “Souf pou Ayiti” movement
Pastor Gregory Toussaint continues to raise awareness Christians to be the initiator of the hoped-for change. However, it is an opportunity to remind the diaspora of the strength it represents while being on a foreign land. We are on the second evening of the 40 days which began on June 4, 2023.
“60% of Haitians in United States are American, which is a huge advantage,” the bishop said.
Bishop Gregory Toussaint wishes, to set an example, to begin several concrete actions for Haiti.
The first step is a petition which aims to motivate American parliamentarians to vote for the S.396 law which will authorize the disclosure of the identity of people involved in the financing of crimes in Haiti. The law will also make it possible to withdraw their VISA and block their bank accounts from people on this list, explained the Pastor Gregory Toussaint.
He said: “It is no coincidence that this law is in parliament for 40 days”.
The 3 targets of the Petition are:
1) Support Bill S.396/HR 1684, the Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act of 2023.
2) Maintain the process of Biden’s conditional migration program (Humanitarian Parole).
3) Implement a plan to regularize beneficiaries of the conditional migration program after a period of two years.
The message of the Petition
This Petition will send a clear message to American parliamentarians, says the Bishop Grégory Toussaint. We will then add two more actions to strengthen it, we will call and we will send an email to our MP. Explanations will be given on the next day of the 40 days.
100,000 signatories targeted
Bishop Gregory Toussaint wishes to have, before the end of 40 days, 100,000 signatories. Thirty minutes after the launch, the petition already had more than 15,000 signatories.
5 days later, the petition was already signed by more than 102,000 people.
