Industry executive Ryan Wesley Smith today announced the launch of the new venture Big Future Music Group (BFMG), a Nashville-based record label, music publishing and management company. With a mission to champion artists and songwriters, providing them with the tools and resources they need to make their stories heard, BFMG has partnered with Sony’s The Orchard for distribution and the world’s #1 music publisher, Sony/ATV.
Partnering with Smith in launching BFMG is veteran label executive and director Mike McCloskey (advisor), who has worked with top artists Chris Tomlin, Crowder and Newsboys, among others, and multi-genre producer and songwriter Tyrus Morgan (A&R consultant), who penned hits “Who We Are” (Courtney Ramirez) and “Good Fight” (Unspoken).
Smith moved to Nashville in 2014 where he has been serving the industry ever since. Prior to launching BFMG, Smith was part of the team at Awakening Events, a Top 50 Global Concert Promoter (Pollstar), working with artists such as TobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crownsetc. He also spent time working with Story House Collective where he managed the day-to-day marketing operations for GRAMMY®-nominated singer/songwriter Matthew West. BFMG isn’t Smith’s first entrepreneurial venture: In early 2019, he launched Chordwell, an artist development and music marketing company that boasts clients including KING and COUNTRY, Ty James, YoungHeart, Cade Thompson, and labels WORD | CURB Entertainment and Fidelity Records.
“I grew up going to concerts with my dad and dreamed of one day working with artists, songwriters and creatives. Big Future is the manifestation of those dreams coming true,” Smith said of the company. “We believe the best days are ahead and we’re excited to champion Abby and ensure her incredible talent and heart are shared with listeners everywhere.”
Alongside the launch, BFMG is announcing the signing of leading Christian pop artist Abby Robertson, whose debut single “Sanctuary” drops Friday (2/12). Her classic style and heart authentic have already reached thousands of people, performing at international festivals in Israel, Malta and Ethiopia, and opening for artists such as Switchfoot, Jeremy Camp and even The Beach Boys.
