Singer/songwriter/survivor Benny DiChiara and his band, Empowered, are starting 2021 right where they left off at the end of 2020 – at the top of the charts.
The group, which landed No. 1 twice in 2020 on IndieGospel.net’s Top 10 Video Chart, earned back-to-back No. 1 music videos on the same chart to kick off 2021.
In the second week of January, Empowered’s “Listen to the Children” music video hit No. 1 for the second time. This week, the video for the title track from the critically acclaimed album Three Days took the top spot for the second time, while “Listen to the Children” remains on the chart at No. 6.
“This is such an exciting way to start the new year,” says DiChiara. “God has blessed us so richly this past year. We are humbled that our music is still resonating with people and we look forward to what’s yet to come!”
The group’s sophomore project, Three Days, not only produced multiple No. 1s; it was the group’s first release since DiChiara nearly lost her life to a traumatic brain injury. Her recovery journey made 2020’s accomplishments all the more meaningful.
In September 2020, their music video “Listen to the Children” debuted at number 1 on Indiegospel.net’s Top 10 Videos chart.
As of December 2020, DiChiara and the band have held two No. 1 spots on Indiegospel.net’s various charts—the music video for the EP’s title track, “Three Days,” reached No. 1 on the website’s Top 10 Videos chart, and the band’s radio single, “Listen to the Children,” reached No. 1 on Indiegospel.net’s Top 20.
“The ‘Listen to the Children’ message is so imperative and clearly resonates with people right now,” DiChiara says. “We are so grateful for the support from fans and radio, but even more so to God for His abundant blessings.”
Three Days – the project, the song and the video – are multi-sensory reminders of a sovereign God that even death cannot contain.
“Jesus took care of everything in just three days. And that includes you!” DiChiara says. “I hope you will let others know what He has done for you in your life so they can also receive this precious gift. Eternity is ours if we will just believe.”
In a year marked by fear, tragedy and dissent, Three Days provided a light in the darkness, reminding people of God’s restoration, healing and unconditional love.
