The singer / songwriter /survivor Benny DiChiara and his chart-topping indie Christian rock band Empowered joined an impressive roster of featured artists at this year’s Yes Fest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 15, 2022.
Sharing the stage with artists such as Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, 7eventh Time Down, Riley Clemmons, Phil Joel and Ryan Stevenson, Benny and his band performed four cuts from their new EP, Yahweh Nissi, released October 7, 2022, from Slingshot Records.
Among the songs performed was the EP’s lead single, “Jesus Can Heal the World,” which DiChiara sang as a duet with her Dove Award-nominated co-writer and producer, Mikey Howard of 7eventh Time Down and Love Journey Music.
“Special thanks to all the artists we shared the stage with, especially my mentor/producer/friend/brother in Christ Mikey Howard,” DiChiara said. “We sang our new radio single, ‘Jesus Can Heal The World,’ and the crowd knew the chorus at the end of the song and started singing along. It was an incredible moment…God showed up!
The Yes Fest appearance was DiChiara and Empowered’s first live performance of the new EP, Yahweh Nissi, which means “The Lord is My Banner.” It serves as a rallying cry of sorts for a world struggling to return to normal in the wake of the pandemic, social upheaval and a loss of roots.
Produced by Mikey Howard, the project is a no-holds-barred triumph of unwavering faith and unwavering courage, built on what Howard calls the band’s “passion for music and their craft.”
“God told me that he was looking for his people not only to reclaim him, but to rise up with their voices to bring people back to Jesus,” said DiChiara, leader and songwriter leader of the group. “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). This is the heart behind the title song, “Yahweh Nissi,” which is a battle cry for Jesus.
