Nashville-based singer/songwriter Abby Robertson showcases her breathtaking vocals in a live performance video of her latest single “Sanctuary.” Filmed at the famed Ocean Way Nashville Studio, the young singer pours her heart out in her most personal track yet — written during a trying time when her father was suffering from a major health scare. Robertson turned inward and found peace the only way she knew how — through the power of God. All Nash gave the public the first look at the video yesterday, calling it “stunning.” The chill, uplifting tune, which premiered last month with CCM Magazinewas co-written with Tyrus Morgan (Unspoken, We Are Messengers), Dave Lubben (Halsey, Carly Rae Jepson, Corey Harper, TobyMac), Kevin MaC and Andrea Robertson, and is released via his new deal with Big Future Music Group.
“I remember my mother reaching for a Bible when my father was struggling with this health issue and randomly turning to Psalm 150:1, which says, ‘Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.’ Me, my mother, my brother, and my father all praised God at that moment—a moment that would later become this song.
Although she’s still early in her career, Robertson has a lot to be proud of: She’s opened for the likes of The Beach Boys and Switchfoot, and performed at international music festivals in Israel, Malta and Ethiopia. She’s released pop songs and even had a stint in country music, all before the age of 21.
However, if you ask Abby what her proudest career moment is so far, it’s not the festivals, the big names, or the impressive number of Spotify downloads. What Abby is most proud of are the moments she’s been able to be authentic with her music and on stage. As she explains, “Not worrying about what people think of me and being raw and real.” No easy task, especially for a female recording artist navigating today’s cultural landscape.
